Google has just introduced a “report incorrect data” link on its Google Maps product.

Google is starting to use the community here to try and improve its local database (business listings). Following the footsteps of Yahoo, Yahoo! Local for some time has sought to use the community to improve the quality of the database and update listings, and boasts a loyal following of users.

What it means for our customers who subscribe to the 2020 IYP service is that your ad in Google Maps will boast additional exposures as consumers flock to use the more up-to-date Google Maps with more accuracy with additional freshness with reviews.

Online Marketing Sucking Budget from Traditional Media

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

So says the new SEMPO “State of Search Engine Marketing 2006″ report as summarized in MediaPost today:

“SEMPO found that marketers who migrate budgets to search are shifting spending from traditional media. When SEMPO asked respondents who said they had shifted budget to online where that money came from, the top answers included print magazine ads (cited by 20%), direct mail (16%), TV ads (13%) and print newspaper ads (13%).”

What this means is smaller businesses are increasing chasing the big guys by following the trend of dumping traditional media and trying out new offerings online.
